Doug Scott, C.B.E. "The Significant and Joyous Moments of Being in the Mountains"

Doug made the first ascent of the West Face of Mt Everest becoming the first Englishman to stand on its summit. He was one of the early climbers to do the "Seven Summits" and has recently received the "Piolet d'Or" the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Union of Alpinist (UIAA). He has summited over forty Himalayan peaks. Doug has been honored by Queen Elizabeth II with a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) and is the Past President of the British Alpine Club and currently directs one of the most effective charities in Nepal, Community Action Nepal, which builds schools and health posts in the more remote areas of Nepal. He is an amazing photographer and is highly sought after on the international speaking circuit.

The DaVinci Academy, in conjunction with the GOAL Foundation and the Ogden Valley Winter Sports Foundation on September 27th hosted a reception and presentation featuring guest speaker and world renowned alpinist Doug Scott.  The reception was held at the Front Climbing Gym. Reception included Slackwater Pizza and Refreshments. Local Mount Everest Ascenders, Will Calton and Tom Burton were also in attendence to receive an Ogden City recognition for their climbing efforts.
